Central to this report, he shall give the number of passengers, crew and any other persons onboard at the time of sailing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keeping the Master promptly and fully informed of any occurrence in which might affect the navigation of the ship or the safety of persons onboard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaison with other departments for the co-ordination of Hotel Department activities and to ensure the smooth running of his department.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The safety, welfare and discipline of all members of the Hotel Department including any concessionaire staff under his authority. custom assigns him, holds overriding responsibility and authority for all matters concerning the safety of the ship, passengers and crew, for environmental protection and for the overall operation of the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Master takes rank and precedence over all Officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Master is directly responsible to the SVP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Master will always command the support of the Company, if he exercises the fullest care and judgement which he believes is in the best interest of the safe navigation and the running of the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The execution of the voyage, and all that it implies, are entrusted to the Master. It is for him to justify his responsibility and to respect the degree of authority given to him by keeping a close watch on every part of the organisation of the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Master\u2019s primary responsibility must always be the safe navigation and conduct of the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Whilst in command, the Master cannot delegate his ultimate responsibility!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is indirectly responsible for the welfare of the passengers and directly responsible for the overall welfare of the crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is the Company&#8217;s on board representative for matters pertaining to Authorities, Agents, Charterers, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since a passenger ship can only earn her living by attracting, carrying safely and giving pleasure to passengers, it is the duty of the Master to see that this is carried out. To this end, he should take the opportunity, when convenient, of mixing informally with passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is to ensure that the Chief Officer, as his deputy, is fully aware of all aspects of the ship\u2019s operation, so that he is able, if required, to assume command immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His\/her is responsible for the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The ship going to sea fully found and provided in all respects, and suitable as regards trim and stability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The implementation of Company\u2019s Policy and International requirements relative to navigation, safety and environmental protection. In co-ordinating these activities, he is to ensure that the shipboard communication network, for both passengers and crew, is effective.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Issuing appropriate orders and instructions to the crew in a clear and simple manner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organising and participating in emergency drills and verifying their effectiveness, particularly with regard to the co-ordination of the various response groups.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verifying that individual crew members and response groups receive regular training.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verifying that the maintenance and periodic inspection of the ship\u2019s safety and environmental protection appliances and equipment is completed satisfactorily.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arranging the preparation of the ship for statutory and class surveys and giving assistance during surveys as necessary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analysing findings and deficiencies raised by inspection bodies (Port State, Flag State etc.) and sending analyses to the Company (DPA).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For media contact and\/or liaison.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore the Master will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide instruction, directly or through his Officers, for the motivation of the crew to apply the policy, procedures and instructions contained in the Company&#8217;s Safety Management System.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Issue &#8220;Master\u2019s Standing Orders&#8221; for the safe and efficient operation of the ship. A copy of these orders will always be available on the bridge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a <em>Master\u2019s Night Order Book<\/em> which will be read and the orders signed by each Deck Officer on taking over the watch. This book is to be kept on the bridge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Report to the DPA any matter that, in his opinion, could affect the safe operation of the ship or could present a risk of pollution and which requires the assistance of the Company for corrective action. Once per contract minimum 15 days prior disembarkation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During sea passage and port stay except dry docking and technical stop, collect necessary information from C\/E and H\/M to fulfil Noon Report and send to SI and VP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All reports and forms listed in List of Reports that should be sent to the Office to be regularly scanned and posted in SP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the Voyage exceeds 24hrs from port to port, and there are more than two infants on board, Master must ensure that sufficient number of lifejackets is provided for all infant passengers on board.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Although the Company provides operational and emergency procedures and instructions, it is to be understood that on board the ship the Master has full and complete authority to act or give orders which he considers necessary to protect human life, the environment and the ship whether they be in accordance or not with the procedures and instructions provided by the Company.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-block-\">\n                <div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title-wrap\"\" aria-controls=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-1-5c8755b7-c566-4100-9daf-6ce4bf37af9c\" tabindex=\"0\">\n                    <p class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title ub-content-toggle-title-5c8755b7-c566-4100-9daf-6ce4bf37af9c\">Chief Officer<\/p><div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap left\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down\"><\/span>\n                    <\/div><\/div><div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"false\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap ub-hide\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-1-5c8755b7-c566-4100-9daf-6ce4bf37af9c\">\n\n<p>He is the Master\u2019s deputy and 2nd in command of the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As such, he is responsible, with the Master, for the safety of the ship and he is to familiarise himself with the duties of the Master and at all times to follow closely the navigation of the ship and any other relevant matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is to give the Master whatever advice he deems appropriate if, in his opinion, the ship is in, or is likely to fall into, a condition of risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He will assume command if the Master is incapacitated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In case Pilotage onboard is exceeding more than 3 hours, Master can delegate his responsibility to the Chief Officer for period no longer than 3 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Officer to practice manoeuvring \u2013 handling of the vessel at the discretion of the Captain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is of particular importance in the light of the performance quality and handling ability ready to assume command of the vessel if the Captain is incapacitated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chief Officer is the Head of the Deck Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is responsible for the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monitoring the activities of his department, ensuring that all the responsibilities detailed below are correctly discharged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaison with other departments for the co-ordination of Deck Department activities and to ensure the smooth running of Medical department.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Executing the policies, procedures and instructions laid down by the Companyfor his\/her department and verifying personally that all Officers within his department are properly instructed and aware of their duties and responsibilities relating to the Safety Management System.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that all Deck Department personnel comply with procedures and instructions concerning safety and environmental protection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Satisfying himself that procedures and instructions for safety and environmental protection are followed by <strong>all <\/strong>persons on board and that they attend training and drills required to comply with these procedures and instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Giving the Master, prior to each departure, a positive report that the vessel is ready for sea with regard to the responsibilities of his department. Central to this report, he shall specify that all watertight openings and watertight doors are secured and confirm that the ship complies with the conditions and requirements of the Stability Booklet and will continue to do so for the forthcoming voyage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the actual and forecast expenditure of his department with regard to budgets established for the vessel and to advise the Master and Senior Superintendent accordingly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The safety, occupational health, welfare and discipline of all members of the Deck Department. He is personally to ensure that all Officers in his department are aware of their social obligations whilst in passenger public areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that all Deck Department personnel are familiar with their own emergency duties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that sufficient members of the Deck Department remain on board in harbour to comply with the ship\u2019s <em>In Port Manning Plan<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In charge of the calibration and the Bump test of Gas detector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Officer is designated Chairman of the Safety and Environmental Protection Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is responsible to the Master and the Companyfor the overall safe and efficient operation of the hospital and the safety, occupational health, welfare and discipline of its personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is the designated as the Ship\u2019s Security Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As SSO he is responsible for periodical review of Ship Security Plan and report to office about changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is responsible to ensure that signing off crew\/visitors\/vendors baggage is checked immediately before signing off together with belonging HOD and F-236 accordingly signed and to ensure that bags are checked during regular crew\/visitors\/vendors shore leave (in and out) by gangway personnel and all items bought ashore declared to HOD in order to be released during the sign off. Ch Off is responsible to ensure that gangway personnel is well trained for this procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is responsible to follow up on monthly initiative from office through the safety and security campaign which will be sent by TM, SVP or DPA. He must ensure that those areas of ISM that apply to his department are conscientiously maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is responsible for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintaining and effectively operating, to the highest possible standards, all technical machinery and equipment including main, auxiliary and domestic machinery. These standards must never fall below that of the Company, the Classification Society and the relevant Flag State.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implementing and maintaining the vessel\u2019s planned maintenance system, plant history and inventory systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that the maintenance requirements of the Hotel Department are expeditiously dealt with, particularly those pertaining to hygiene and customer services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the condition of fixed firefighting systems and mobile firefighting appliances within technical spaces, ensuring they are in constant readiness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the activities of his department, ensuring that all the responsibilities detailed below are correctly discharged and that all Engineering Department personnel comply with procedures and instructions concerning safety and environmental protection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring close co-operation with the officer responsible for the ship\u2019s stability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the individual training of technical personnel in their operational duties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Giving the Master a positive report prior to each departure, that the vessel is ready for sea with regard to the responsibilities of his department. Central to this report, he shall identify that the ship\u2019s main and auxiliary machinery is in a suitable condition to proceed to sea.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keeping the Master promptly and fully informed of any occurrence in a technical space that might affect the navigation or the essential services in the ship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the fuel economy of the vessel, consulting frequently with the Master with regard to passage planning and the setting and regulation of economical speeds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the actual and forecast expenditure of his department with regard to the budgets established for the vessel and advising the Master and Senior Superintendent accordingly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submitting through the Master such reports and returns as are required by the Company.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaison with other departments for the co-ordination of Engineering Department activities and ensuring the smooth running of his department.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The safety, discipline and welfare (including the cleanliness of their quarters) of all members of the Engineering Department. He is directly in charge them but may delegate this authority to his 2nd Engineer as appropriate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personally ensuring that 2nd Engineer Officer is aware of his social obligations whilst in passenger&#8217;s public areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that the policies laid down by the Company are executed and personally verifying that 2nd Engineer Officer is properly instructed and aware of&nbsp; their duties and responsibilities relating to the Safety Management System.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The effective operation and maintenance of all watertight doors;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The effective operation and maintenance of all arrangements and equipment provided for pollution prevention, and the supervision of pollution prevention measures during bunkering and bunker transfer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The disposal of sludge, bilge water, oily water and exhausted oils in accordance with international, national and Company requirements and instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Co-ordination and collaboration with the Chief Officer for the effective operation and maintenance of all safety equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Issuing &#8220;Chief Engineer\u2019s Standing Orders&#8221; for the safe and efficient technical operation of the ship. A copy of these standing orders will always be available in the Engine Room.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing a <em>Chief Engineer\u2019s Order Book<\/em>, to be kept in the Engine Room, which will be read and the order signed by 2nd Engineer Officer when taking over the watch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that Oil Record Book is duly filled up and accurate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that all Engineering Department personnel are familiar with their own emergency duties and that adequate training is given and drills completed for firefighting, power failure, damage, etc. The workload of the technical personnel is to be organised such that all personnel attend training and drills on a regular basis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that sufficient members of the Engineering Department remain on board in harbour to comply with the ship\u2019s <em>In Port Manning Plan<\/em>. the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Master takes rank and precedence over all Officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Master is directly responsible to the SVP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Master will always command the support of the Company, if he exercises the fullest care and judgement which he believes is in the best interest of the safe navigation and the running of the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The execution of the voyage, and all that it implies, are entrusted to the Master. It is for him to justify his responsibility and to respect the degree of authority given to him by keeping a close watch on every part of the organisation of the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Master\u2019s primary responsibility must always be the safe navigation and conduct of the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Whilst in command, the Master cannot delegate his ultimate responsibility!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is indirectly responsible for the welfare of the passengers and directly responsible for the overall welfare of the crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is the Company&#8217;s on board representative for matters pertaining to Authorities, Agents, Charterers, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since a passenger ship can only earn her living by attracting, carrying safely and giving pleasure to passengers, it is the duty of the Master to see that this is carried out. To this end, he should take the opportunity, when convenient, of mixing informally with passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is to ensure that the Chief Officer, as his deputy, is fully aware of all aspects of the ship\u2019s operation, so that he is able, if required, to assume command immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His\/her is responsible for the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The ship going to sea fully found and provided in all respects, and suitable as regards trim and stability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The implementation of Company\u2019s Policy and International requirements relative to navigation, safety and environmental protection. He holds ultimate authority on the ship&nbsp;&nbsp; and he may take whatever decision he considers necessary in this respect.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reviewing the Company\u2019s policy, procedures and instructions regarding safety and pollution prevention, and reporting to the Company any comments or suggestions for their improvement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that all procedures detailed by the Company are correctly carried out and that all Officers perform their assigned duties regarding safety and environmental protection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that all necessary documents, charts and publications are on board and in order.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compliance with all legislation and regulations affecting the ship\u2019s operation and the interests of those on board. He must familiarise himself with such legislation and regulations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the ship and the co-ordination of activities between each of the ship&#8217;s departments. A copy of these orders will always be available on the bridge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a <em>Master\u2019s Night Order Book<\/em> which will be read and the orders signed by each Deck Officer on taking over the watch. This book is to be kept on the bridge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Report to the DPA any matter that, in his opinion, could affect the safe operation of the ship or could present a risk of pollution and which requires the assistance of the Company for corrective action. Once per contract minimum 15 days prior disembarkation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During sea passage and port stay except dry docking and technical stop, collect necessary information from C\/E and H\/M to fulfil Noon Report and send to SI and VP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All reports and forms listed in List of Reports that should be sent to the Office to be regularly scanned and posted in SP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the Voyage exceeds 24hrs from port to port, and there are more than two infants on board, Master must ensure that sufficient number of lifejackets is provided for all infant passengers on board.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Although the Company provides operational and emergency procedures and instructions, it is to be understood that on board the ship the Master has full and complete authority to act or give orders which he considers necessary to protect human life, the environment and the ship whether they be in accordance or not with the procedures and instructions provided by the Company.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-block-\">\n                <div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title-wrap\"\" aria-controls=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-1-affb15c0-b789-4760-a5e6-57b09355b85a\" tabindex=\"0\">\n                    <p class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title ub-content-toggle-title-affb15c0-b789-4760-a5e6-57b09355b85a\">Chief Officer<\/p><div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap left\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down\"><\/span>\n                    <\/div><\/div><div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"false\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap ub-hide\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-1-affb15c0-b789-4760-a5e6-57b09355b85a\">\n\n<p>He is the Master\u2019s deputy and 2nd in command of the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As such, he is responsible, with the Master, for the safety of the ship and he is to familiarise himself with the duties of the Master and at all times to follow closely the navigation of the ship and any other relevant matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is to give the Master whatever advice he deems appropriate if, in his opinion, the ship is in, or is likely to fall into, a condition of risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He will assume command if the Master is incapacitated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In case Pilotage onboard is exceeding more than 3 hours, Master can delegate his responsibility to the Chief Officer for period no longer than 3 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Officer to practice manoeuvring \u2013 handling of the vessel at the discretion of the Captain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is of particular importance in the light of the performance quality and handling ability ready to assume command of the vessel if the Captain is incapacitated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chief Officer is the Head of the Deck Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is responsible for the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monitoring the activities of his department, ensuring that all the responsibilities detailed below are correctly discharged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaison with other departments for the co-ordination of Deck Department activities and to ensure the smooth running of Medical department.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Executing the policies, procedures and instructions laid down by the Companyfor his\/her department and verifying personally that all Officers within his department are properly instructed and aware of their duties and responsibilities relating to the Safety Management System.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that all Deck Department personnel comply with procedures and instructions concerning safety and environmental protection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Satisfying himself that procedures and instructions for safety and environmental protection are followed by <strong>all <\/strong>persons on board and that they attend training and drills required to comply with these procedures and instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Giving the Master, prior to each departure, a positive report that the vessel is ready for sea with regard to the responsibilities of his department. Central to this report, he shall specify that all watertight openings and watertight doors are secured and confirm that the ship complies with the conditions and requirements of the Stability Booklet and will continue to do so for the forthcoming voyage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the actual and forecast expenditure of his department with regard to budgets established for the vessel and to advise the Master and Senior Superintendent accordingly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The safety, occupational health, welfare and discipline of all members of the Deck Department. He is personally to ensure that all Officers in his department are aware of their social obligations whilst in passenger public areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that all Deck Department personnel are familiar with their own emergency duties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that sufficient members of the Deck Department remain on board in harbour to comply with the ship\u2019s <em>In Port Manning Plan<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In charge of the calibration and the Bump test of Gas detector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Officer is designated Chairman of the Safety and Environmental Protection Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is responsible to the Master and the Companyfor the overall safe and efficient operation of the hospital and the safety, occupational health, welfare and discipline of its personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is the designated as the Ship\u2019s Security Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As SSO he is responsible for periodical review of Ship Security Plan and report to office about changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is responsible to ensure that signing off crew\/visitors\/vendors baggage is checked immediately before signing off together with belonging HOD and F-236 accordingly signed and to ensure that bags are checked during regular crew\/visitors\/vendors shore leave (in and out) by gangway personnel and all items bought ashore declared to HOD in order to be released during the sign off. He must ensure that those areas of ISM that apply to his department are conscientiously maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is responsible for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintaining and effectively operating, to the highest possible standards, all technical machinery and equipment including main, auxiliary and domestic machinery. These standards must never fall below that of the Company, the Classification Society and the relevant Flag State.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implementing and maintaining the vessel\u2019s planned maintenance system, plant history and inventory systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring that the maintenance requirements of the Hotel Department are expeditiously dealt with, particularly those pertaining to hygiene and customer services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the condition of fixed firefighting systems and mobile firefighting appliances within technical spaces, ensuring they are in constant readiness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the activities of his department, ensuring that all the responsibilities detailed below are correctly discharged and that all Engineering Department personnel comply with procedures and instructions concerning safety and environmental protection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring close co-operation with the officer responsible for the ship\u2019s stability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the individual training of technical personnel in their operational duties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Giving the Master a positive report prior to each departure, that the vessel is ready for sea with regard to the responsibilities of his department. Central to this report, he shall identify that the ship\u2019s main and auxiliary machinery is in a suitable condition to proceed to sea.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keeping the Master promptly and fully informed of any occurrence in a technical space that might affect the navigation or the essential services in the ship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the fuel economy of the vessel, consulting frequently with the Master with regard to passage planning and the setting and regulation of economical speeds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring the actual and forecast expenditure of his department with regard to the budgets established for the vessel and advising the Master and Senior Superintendent accordingly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submitting through the Master such reports and returns as are required by the Company.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaison with other departments for the co-ordination of Engineering Department activities and ensuring the smooth running of his department.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The safety, discipline and welfare (including the cleanliness of their quarters) of all members of the Engineering Department. When proceeding ashore, his deputy must remain onboard and the Master must be informed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The assignment of each Engineering Department responsibility detailed below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Engineering Department responsibilities are to be assigned to the 2nd Engineer or the Chief Engineer himself where appropriate. These are to be submitted to the Company for agreement after consultation with the Master.
